on: 19-10-2010

Information Security Awareness workshop at Dayanand Anglo Vedic (DAV) Public School, Aundh Pune on 19/10/2010 to standard IX of 300 students.

Members from C-DAC who participated and coordinated the workshop:
1.    Mrs. Indraveni, C-DAC hyderabad
2.    Mr. Madhu D, C-DAC Pune
3.    Mr. Kishor Patil, C-DAC Pune
4.    Mr. Chandrakant D, C-DAC pune.

Students were very enthusiastic for the workshop. Following is the brief list of the questions asked by the students during the sessions.

1.    How do the hackers make a copy of Debit Card/ Credit Card used in the ATM's ?
2.    What action can we take against the persons who steal our information and misuse it ?
3.    What are CA' s? What role do they play in the whole scenario?
4.    Why are special characters not allowed in the start of a User Name or Passwords on some websites?

We found that the students of STD IX and X th were already aware of some of these security issues and their solution. Hence depending upon the schools and the students profiles, it may be necessary to curtail the kind of audience for the future workshops.
