Indian Institute of information technology- Allahabad in association with center for development of advance computing, Hyderabad had conducted a workshop on 1st to 2nd October, 2010 for Engineering Graduates. The theme of the workshop was information security education and awareness targeting Engineering Graduates within India.                         .

Proceeding of the Workshop
 
The Resource Persons Dr. Vrijendra Singh, Dr. Vijay Kumar Chaurasiya, Mr. Shashikant Rai in Coordination with Dr. Abhishek Vaish have delivered their talk and hands-on in the lab on the subject matter.
 
The workshop has been a big success in term of topic coverage and participation. The workshop had catered to the needs of the all the participants from different perspective like, need of proper use of Internet, Information Security issues like strong password enforcement, identity theft, cyber crimes like spamming, phishing, social engineering etc. The presentation was very interactive by using lot of video clippings, arranging quizzes and explaining real time stories.  Legal issues pertaining to the above issues were also highlighted so as to curb hacking, cracking or illegal activities.
 
Program Content 
The module is designed in such manner to make people exposed to various areas like 

•   Information Security Awareness Issues Presentation 
• To make aware proper use of Internet
• Making aware in lab for Hacking/Cracking, Unauthorized accessing of data and related issues  
•   Legal Issues for remedial measures

Conclusion:
 Information Security education and awareness workshop for engineering graduates and students was a big success in term of the participation and subject matter coverage. Indian Institute of information Technology-Allahabad would be conducting this kind of workshop in future also, keeping in mind the need to educate common man to fight the menace of cyber threat.
