Information Security Awareness workshop at Menino Trade center,Ponda, Goa on 18th September 2011 for this workshop total 127 participants were present.

 Inaugural function of the workshop started in a traditional way by lighting the lamp at the hands of Rtr.Atul Naik chief guest for the function.

Dr.Vinayak N.Shet chief investigator of this project gave brief introduction about the activities carried out under this project.He also briefed the audience the number of activities already carried in the state of Goa and more activities planned with in the state and also in the neighbouring state Karnataka.

Keynote speaker Shri Ramrao Wagh Professor,Goa, University while addressing the gathering stressed on the need for Information Secuirty and its Awareness in today's citizens, young and old which laid a strong foundation for the further proceedings.

Prof.Nilesh Fal Dessai in his interesting lecture  stressed on the basic set of rules/regulation in Information Security which should be followed by every individual.

Prof.Nagaraj Vernekar, spoke on social network and cyber bullying.He laid stress on Do's and Dont's while using any social networking sites.Overview of cyber bullying helped to gain a lot of knowledge on how and why parents should be vigilant about the childs activities.

Prof Maruska Mascarenhas dealt with infromation on virus/worms,phishing attacks how to detect and kill such instances from reoccurring was something whihc the attendees liked the most.

Dr.J.A.Laxminarayan,chose to speak on different malwares and ways to avoid/spot them entering from your computer.He laid stress on security settings which should be done to secure your computer from malwares.Importance of firewall and how to make use of firewall installed in every computer helped the teachers and parents know its importance.
