ISA Wokshop to Non-IT, Govt Users on 20th March 2010

ISEA Workshop

Around 45 participants from various organizations such as NIT, C-Net, NIIT, Municipal College, NGOs, etc. participated in the workshop. Prof. A. Behera, Director (in-charge) presided over the inaugural session. The programme started at 9:30 am with brief introduction to Information Security by Prof. Sanjay Kumar Jena, Coordinator of the workshop. Prof. A. Behera also discussed the importance of such workshops for various non-IT/Govt. users.  Then Mr. Saroj Kumar Panigrahy, Project Officer, ISEA and two project associates Mr. Suraj Sharma & Mr. Asish Kumar Dalai discussed about the various aspects of information security:
  1. Cyber usage at office: General Security, Ethics, Safety, Browser Settings, Instant messaging, Copyrights, Best Practices
  2. User Credential Protection: Passwords and Social Engineering, Online transaction Security, e-mail Security
  3. Personal Computer Security: OS Updates, Antivirus settings, Anti spyware, Desktop firewall, Physical Security, Data Backups and storage
Then, animation videos regarding safe internet usage, software updation, antivirus software usage were shown to the participants.

Also cartoon videos were shown regarding how to use internet, online chatting, etc.

Then, question & answer session was there for clarification of the doubts of the participants.

At the end participation certificates were awarded to the participants.

The workshop ends following the lunch at 1:30 pm.   News Published
