On the 12th October 2010, Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi –Goa in association with CDAC Hyderabad, Department of IT, Ministry of Communication and IT , Government of India and Directorate of Technical Education, Governmnet of Goa organized a one day workshop on Information Security Awareness for Teachers and students at Navy Public School, Vasco.For the same total 187 participants attended.

Commander Harish Verma was the Chief Guest of the function, inaugurated the one day workshop on Information Security Awareness for Teachers and Students. Addressing the students he laid stress on the need for Information Security its usefulness.

Dr.V.N.Shet , Head of Electrical & Electronics Department, who is also convener for this project , gave brief details sanctioned by the Government of India and the activities need to be undertaken by the college as a participating Institution under this project.Many staff members from the institute were attained and deputed various courses. He gave brief introduction on protecting information and information systems from unauthorized access, use disclosure, disruption, modification or destruction.

Mrs.Madhavi Sarvathe Vice Principal of Navy Public School welcomed the dignitaries and the audience to the workshop.

Dr.J.A.Laxminarayan, the workshop coordinator and faculty for the course gave brief introduction regarding the activity of the day to be undertaken.

Prof.Vijay M.Borges one of the faculty for the course present on the dais, he stressed on the need for Information Security and its Awareness in today’s citizens, young and old and assured that the workshop and interaction will be very live and fruitful.

Prof.Aisha Fernandes one of  the faculty for the course present on the dais and presented the vote of thanks.
