- Don't cut and paste a link from the message into your Web browser, phishers can make links look like they go one place, but then actually take you to a look-alike site.
- If you are concerned about your account, contact the organization using a phone number you know to be genuine, or open a new Internet browser session and type in the company's correct Web address yourself.
- Using latest browser IE7, Firefox 3, enable phishing filters
- Using anti-virus and anti-spyware software and a firewall, and keeping them up to date
- If you receive an unexpected e-mail saying your account will be shut down unless you confirm your billing information, do not reply or click any links in the e-mail body
- Before submitting financial information through a Web site, look for the "lock" icon on the browser's status bar. It means your information is secure during transmission.
