ATOP consumer appliances manufacturer has lodged a complaint with the cyber crime police against an email in circulation that is offering jobs in its name.
The email, a copy of which was mailed to us by a reader, says, "The company has selected a list of 62 candidates for IT, administration, production, marketing and general service departments, It is our pleasure to inform you that you have been shortlisted for the interview."
The email, termed "fake" by the company, has asked the BM reader to send a demand draft for Rs 14,200 drawn in favour of the company. "The deposit is only for security purposes and to prove the candidate will appear for the interview," said the email, which also promised to refund the amount.
The email said, "The offer letter, along with the air ticket, will be sent to you by courier before the interview date."
It said the interview will be held on September 21 at the company's corporate office in New Delhi. The email mentioned the telephone number of a HR executive, but calls to the number went unanswered. The company authorities termed it a fake email. "Someone is trying to play with the image of our company. We have issued a clarification asking people not to fall for such emails."
